How To Know Where To Advertise

This post is about understanding the various ways you can spend your money to generate new leads.

Before you spend you hard earned money to get sales leads, learn how each “pay-per” method works….

First, educate yourself on the terms used for getting new customers and save your money until you know how each one works.

Start with the basics. Diligently make a list of all the different terms used such as pay per click, pay per view, pay per lead, pay per action and so on. Perform searches on Google, Bing or Yahoo and read several definitions of each to understand the subtle differences between the meanings returned in these searches. After a thorough review you will find that the only real authority is the individual source you will be buying from, because each vendor offering a program has their own unique twist to the pay-per-whatever that makes or breaks their particular program. The sheer number of twists, turns or options is the reason why there are so many ways you can spend your advertising dollar. Spend it wisely only after you have a complete understanding of how each program works. If you check back through previous posts on this site you will find a list that enumerates the most popular free means of getting visitors to your site. They require a lot of work. But once you have established each of these free tools, you can progress through trying each of the different paid kinds of advertising methods to increase sales for your products.

Remember, in the midst of all the hard work you will continue to get barraged with the “too good to be true” sales pitches that really are “too good to be true”. The only way to a solid success is to build a broad base of leads using all the methods of substance and marketing to these contacts on a regular frequency. Repeated contact with the same basic message builds trust which over time makes it easier for the prospect to become a paying customer.

There is no one source of effective paid advertising for each individual niche. Each advertising method should have a place and a purpose in your marketing plan. Researching competitors materials and gleaning from that research what they use can suggest the right mix for your particular line. Every tool works to some degree and using the ones that bring others business can also bring you the leads essential to your success.

The impact of the Internet on the perceived value of information is as predicted. Undoubtedly, the Internet changed the way people learn and search for useful information. Before the arrival of the Internet, individuals looking for valuable or useful information would be congregating themselves in classrooms, public libraries, bookstores, and magazine stands because these were the places where such information could be found.

However, in the 15 years since the Internet became widely accessible to the public, the difference it made has been gigantic.

The impact is so drastic, it changed the typical procedure of searching for information that existed since the dawn of civilization. If you want to learn about the life of Florence Nightingale, Christopher Columbus, or even the changes brought to Washington DC by President Barack Obama, you do not need to take a class, read a book, or purchase newspapers everyday. You can Yahoo or Google search, and you will be able to find a website that is dedicated to that information.

Through the Internet, such valuable and useful information is readily accessible. In addition, retrieval of information is free. You do not even have to suffer purchasing the latest book for several dollars cheaper than what you would have to pay in a brick and mortar bookstore. The search and retrieval of the manuscript of the book is instantaneous, no wasting of time, and definitely there is no need to drive to the store.

In other words, searching and retrieving information on the Internet is cost-free, except for the purchase of your personal computer and the Internet connection fee.

Almost every kind of information can be found on the Internet, historical accounts, answers to personal problems, and of course information about business opportunities. Success with Internet marketing starts by learning the basics of this lucrative industry. Such basics can be learned through various Internet marketing-related searches scattered over the Web.

In other words, every online-based business opportunity and the related information can be accessed through the Internet. Save your money. Search first then purchase what you can not find for free.

There is one powerful reason you should pay…

Unlike most all other information on the Internet, information related to Internet marketing is not entirely free. Marketing gurus sell their success techniques to online marketing neophytes. 90% of what they do can be found for free. It is the other 10% you will have to buy.

If you want information that is useful for your specific online business, you will sometimes have to purchase such information or pay for consulting or coaching offered by successful marketing gurus.

To get the real value for your money, following are the first few things you will want to know before you pay:

1.) The most secret and valuable information is highly controlled and distributed only by proven experts on Internet marketing. Verify that the individual behind the program of interest is really a marketing genius. One way of doing this is to check the speakers list for the national conventions such as the Warriors Forum, held in Raleigh, NC in fall of 2009. Also, by joining the www.warriorforum.com you can discern by reading postings whose information holds the most value. With so many ‘bogus gurus’ out there, there is a need to check on your information resources first before handing out money.

2.) Such information must be current and/or updated. There is little use of information gathered in 2003 for a 2009 market. Ask for some sample excerpts or initial information that you can see for yourself if it is updated or not. Be cautious though because there are many selling junk and only a few offering the cutting edge information.

3.) Look for a money back guarantee as one condition of paid information. If you are not satisfied with contents or the results are not as promised, you can have your money back. There are many experienced Internet marketers who are willing to give your money back if you are not satisfied with the information you have acquired.

4.) If you cannot afford to purchase premium information sold by different Internet marketers over the Web, you can still look for free information. You may visit different article directories over the Internet that publish hundreds to thousands of articles related to Internet marketing. Some of these articles are written by the Internet marketing gurus themselves, thus you are assured that the information is valuable and can be applied to your online business.
