Ezine Article Chronicles Early Progress

One of the effective and long lasting methods of getting traffic to your site is article marketing. As I had promised in my earlier blog, The Op-Yop Is Back I will do an update from time to time on the progress of the product launch. This time the update comes in the form of an article published online. One of the steps in generating traffic without paying Google for their help is submitting articles to the online article publishing sites. Part of the promotion of the op-yop, submitting an article, also happens to be a way of getting traffic back to this site. It chronicles the steps I have taken so far in marketing and promoting the op-yop toy. Completing a full circle of links and back links takes time, but the exposure continues to grow with time. For my readers, there really is someone like you, hovering over the keyboard, awaiting the opportunity to become friends through the magic of email. One of the observations I want to pass along relates to working from home and getting rich overnight. My truth is that it hasn’t happened to me, but it can happen to you. By following the recommended steps and habitually going on line and following through, over time, traffic builds. Things start “clicking”. The money begins to come in from people who have grown to trust your advice. It is possible to build a business working from your home computer. It is simple…stick to the basics until you are well established, absorb how an overall marketing plan works, and have the discipline to follow through. Now spend some money. Seek out one of the people who have the tools you need and aren’t trying to sell you instant anything. Then invest some money in a proven, money back program. How To Easily Make An Internet Marketing Plan

With all the marketing blogs giving free advice and the well written articles available at ezinearticles.com, (Click Here for A Sample) making a marketing plan is simple. Instead of requiring a stroke of genius, it’s more of a checklist of things to do. Complete a list of tasks and answer some basic questions. The most difficult part is the follow through and the follow up. Some critical thinking is needed to identify your target market. But the actual plan comes down to discipline and answering the 5 W’s and 2 H’s.

For a brief listing of the First Ten Steps visit one of my earlier blogs and then come back to this article for the critical thinking part.

I approach “target market” research using a disciplined problem solving method commonly used by problem solvers like engineers or technicians. This method is structured to answer seven questions; the answers bring clarity to each of the steps required to market a business online.

For identifying who will buy your product, answer the questions: who, what, when, where, why, how much, and how many. These are called the 5 w’s and 2 h’s. If you run through these questions for each of the steps you will arrive at a logical summary of things to do, steps to follow, and a resulting marketing plan.

For example, the marketing plan for the Op-Yop product naturally led to registering the domain names www.op-yop.com and www.opyop.com . Using Go-Daddy.com as the registrar was a choice based on a google search. The hosting on host www.hostgator.com was recommended by another marketer, and has proven very satisfactory. Making the one page website was simple to do using the free Composer tools in the Sea Monkey (Mozilla) suite of tools. I won’t go through all the steps and explain, but these examples should demonstrate my point.

Part of the follow through and follow up is an article like this one. The keywords used throughout are picked up by the search engines and eventually will link traffic to this site, as well as the op-yop site, where the opyop toy can be purchased.

The Op-Yop Is Back – Toy Stash Discovered

The original Op-yop is back! We are going to have some fun for a few weeks, maybe stretching into months. As proof that internet marketing concepts written about in this blog do work, I am going to present a product launch. In order to make the concepts easy to grasp I have chosen an actual product that can be physically touched. It has a limited market so we will be exploring niche marketing. The product is something unique, no direct competition. It is a retro item not sold in over 40 years! It was a fad in 1968. This would put it smack in the middle of the hippie era. It comes in Day Glo colors that light up under a black light. It makes a unique sound. I uncovered a warehouse stash of these things, left over from the original production. I think I have enough stock from the original runs to sell a worthwhile amount. We will try to cover all the marketing bases until the stock runs out.
We will do a series of press releases, write a few articles and post to the article marketing sites. I’ll go through (SEO) Optimizing the keywords for Search Engines. I’ll do a screen capture of the Google search results before and after the campaign, to show our ranking on the results. We will do some quick research into niche forums and other blogs. We will set up PayPal to receive payments. We’ll also populate the social media sites like twitter, Facebook, youtube and others like them. I may delve into advertising of different types as examples for the blog. I may use ebay for traffic. I will make every attempt to post progress and write about the methods used, time allowing. How To Use The Internet To Turn Around Detroit’s Economy

One thing for certain, to turn around Michigan’s economy, something has to change and quickly.

Facts from the Bureau of Labor Statistics For The Month of June:

Unemployment in Michigan, specifically in Metro-Detroit surpassed 17% in June, 2009.

Unemployment rates were higher in June than a year ago in all 372 US Metropolitan areas.

For the sixth consecutive month unemployment rates increased.

Michigan claims two of the most populous metro areas in the country that registered the highest unemployment rates

Warren, Farmington Hills and Troy registered one the highest jobless rates of 16.2%

Change is constant in Detroit’s auto business; so accepting change is not the problem. The problem is “what to change to“. It is about having choices. Don’t waste time waiting for the old job market to come back. Auto jobs are not coming back to Michigan. Getting people working again will only happen by choosing a new direction. Living within the Metro-Detroit area are some of the most talented people on the planet and they have what it takes to change this economy. Their training in the auto industry is so complex that every one understands the discipline needed to begin with a concept and end with a salable product. This training and discipline is easily transferable.

Certainly using the internet as a tool holds immediate promise. Now more than ever, what and who you know is essential to your success. Working from your home computer and networking on the internet is the easiest way to meet contacts with similar interests. Marketing yourself online expands job possibilities.

What you can do…

Join forums and groups, and get involved in as many networks as you can manage. Learn the basics of how money is being made on the internet. Copy those methods. Search the web for techniques, tips , tools and discover the systems already available. Apply automotive techniques to assembling a virtual business that creates jobs. There are “how to” guides any auto worker interested in being retrained can download. The step by step nature of systems for making money online will be very familiar to anyone involved in automotive. There is no degree required to start, most of what works is not taught in a university. The only requirement is serious application of the discipline and work ethic learned making an automobile.

Because the jobs are not coming back to Detroit or Michigan, starting an online business or taking advantage of other online opportunities are immediate choices for retraining unemployed workers.

List of Online Marketing Tools- An Overview

This post is about the basics. It is for the novice, the “newbie”. It is a list of the online tools and how they relate to each other. It’s purpose is to quickly give you an understanding of the online flow of data and it’s use. Sort of the elevator speech, but in a very tall building. This is making money online in a nutshell.

Marketing your business on the Internet is all about building a relationship with those people with whom you share common interests.

Your initial focus is building a list of people who want to know what you know. The methods used to build this list are many, but the two main ones are through signups by people who visit your online web log or “blog” and people from whom you have captured their email contact information by directing the initial contact through a capture or “squeeze” page.

Generating traffic is the difficult part and being able to do it successfully determines whether or not your online experience will be profitable or not.
Common methods used to generate traffic follow a successful model where you establish a web presence in the form of a blog with content you generate about your products. You submit this information to the Search Engines using acceptable methods. You also review other web logs where topics related to your product niche are discussed and you participate in those discussions by giving authoritative input in the form of comments. Your signature block contains a link back to your page.

Squeeze or “capture” page traffic is generated by creating informative products in the form of Videos, Podcasts, Webinars, Press Releases, Forums, and Articles about your niche, then publishing them in the appropriate places on the web. Interested parties are all sent to your opt-in list through your capture form.

You then begin to develop a relationship with your list via email initiated interactions such as frequent mailings, online events, surveys, etc.

You offer them your own products, other peoples products, and information transfer services such as consulting, training, or public speaking; all of course based on your skill set and level of expertise.

I’ll go into more detail on each of these items individually in other posts. I will also put up a flow chart as a visual aid
